While you are browsing in this website we may collect a certain information relating to you that will allow us to identify you among other browsers. In order for you to feel safe while browsing through our website or while sharing your private data with us through other means, we have prepared this private policy that will allow you understanding how your data is dealt with.

Main facts and objectives:
We will deal only with that private data of yours to which we have a legal right. This right for the above mentioned objectives consists of the following:

  • You agreed that we will manage your private data (i.e., if you have registered your account under the website „www.karaim.eu“);
  • Data management is necessary for our legally justified activities (such as handling of IP addresses in order to avoid, detect and/or take responsive actions against abusing our website and/or to collect additional information for your identification, in case you would lose the access to your account);
  • Data management is necessary to ensure our legal engagements except for cases, where your interests or data protection rights („legitimate interest“) is more important than those engagements; or
  • At certain particular cases to deal with your data having your agreement for this („agreement“).

Right to use the data
You have the right to get the information about the data relating to you that we possess (a copy of records) free of charge. Your signed request to obtain such an information must be submitted in writing. We draw your attention to the fact that we will disclose only the information that, as we well know, belongs to you. We cannot disclose any information that damages the rights of other people. Please send your request to the address indicated below. Please mention on the envelope ‘Data protection’.

In order to secure that the copy of your records will be sent to the correct person, it will be sent to the address that you indicated in your request.

Rigth to get the information corrected
We try to secure the correctness of your data and it being up-to-date. If we find mistakes or missing information, we try to correct them or delete.
If your data is being corrected according to your request, we need to inform about it those persons with whom we agreed to share that corrected information. This will not be applicable, if this action will be considered impossible or it is too complicated for us. Your right to familiarize with your data gives you the right to know with whom we share your data.

Right to delete
While we are managing your data, you have the right to ask us to delete it. We are obliged to delete your data in the following cases:

  • If the data previously used to the defined objectives is not any longer needed for them
  • If the data was managed with your agreement and you have cancelled it
  • If the data is being used for a direct marketing and you don’t agree to its management this way
  • If you don’t agree to the data management, that is being done according to the legitimate interest and there are no other legitimate interests that would exceed your interests
  • If the data is managed illegally
  • If the deletion is needed to fulfill a legal obligation

If we need the private data agreement concluded with you for implementation or if we have a legitimate requirement to save your private data, in these cases we cannot delete them.
If we delete the data following your request, we are obliged to inform about it those with whom we share that data. However, this is not applicable if this activity is considered to be impossible or if it is too complicated for us. You also have the right to have the information on those with whom we share your private data.

Right to limit the data management
In some cases you have the right to limit your private data management. This limitation means that your private data will be marked in a way to allow us to manage it for some cases of a limited use.
This right to limitations is applied when, for example, according to you your information is not correct and you are asking to correct it. In these cases you can also ask to limit the management, until the information is being verified.
You will be informed accordingly, when this limitation will terminate.

Right to move the data
The data subject in some cases has the right to acquire its own data and use it for other purposes (move of data). The data manager needs to facilitate this move of your private data. The condition of data movability states that data manager is pursuing its activities in accordance with your agreement or while implementing a contract concluded with you, and that it is applicable only to the data that was provided by yourself.

Right to contradict
The data subject has the right to contradict to the way of data management.
The right to claim the contradiction is applied in cases when the private data is dealt with following our legitimate interests.
If the data subject is objecting to the data management, data manager doesn’t have to deal with the private data any more, except for cases when the manager proves the obligatory justification for data management that are exceeding the interests of data subject, rights and freedom or while determining, implementing or defending the legitimate requirements.
The person has always the right to object to his/her private data management for the purposes of direct marketing. This objection can be expressed any time. If the data subject is objecting to his/her data management for the purposes of direct marketing, his/her private data won’t be managed for these purposes.

Complaints
If you consider that your data is managed in contradiction to legal regulation for data protection in force, please inform us about it as soon as possible. You can also refer directly to the State inspection of data protection of the Lithuanian Republic and submit a complaint.

Compensation and responsibility
Any person that experienced a material or non-material harm because of the breaching of data protection regulation, has a right to receive a compensation from the data manager(s), that was engaged to the process of his/her data management.
A person can require a data manager to compensate the harm or make a claim for compensation of this harm to the court.

When do we need your private data?
We need your private data in the following situations:

  • When you register to our website
  • When you contact us through the contact form presented in the website
  • When you browse in our website
  • When you respond to the surveys published on our website.

Registration to the website
For registration to our website we ask you to share with us your private data (name, family name, e-mail address and your postal address). We need this data for the purpose to identify you and to confirm your participation to the website and network of our community. Your email address is needed for the purpose of sending you a link to reset your password in the relevant cases or for the purpose of sending some information to the users of our website that is relevant only for registered users.

Also we use Google Inc. solution – reCAPTCHA to prevent mallicious software to register to our web site. The reCAPTCHA API works by collecting hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sending these data to Google for analysis. The information collected in connection with your use of the service will be used for improving reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes.

We will protect your private information during the entire period of data management until the registered user will delete his/her account from the website or until he/she would claim to delete all his/her data from the database of the website.

Users’ contacts
When you will contact us through the website contact form, we will ask you to let us know your email address. We need it for the purpose of answering to your question.

We will never sell your private data to any third party without your prior consent. We will neither share your private data with any third party for marketing purposes without your prior consent.

We have the right to share your collected private data free of charge with Statistics Lithuania with the purpose of conducting a statistical survey of the Karaim community in Lithuania and compiling a list of respondents.
